Since the very start of human civilization, flying was always a human dream. When a man sees the birds flying in the air, the first thing that stimulates in his mind is to fly high like these birds. Finally, human dream of flying was fulfilled by the two brothers who are the pioneers of flying. The man went deep into this field; he invented the fighter jets, gunship helicopters etc. All these flying machines have one thing common that is they have wings. Now, the scientists have reached to that verge of science and technology that they have succeeded in inventing spherical flying objects that do not have wings. Initially, a prototype is made that is small. The good thing about them is that these flying objects will not need any runway to run and fly. They will fly vertically from the ground, like this prototype proved in its demonstration.
You have seen moves like star wars. In these movies there are space crafts of different designs, some are spherical and some with other strange designs. This spherical flying machine is like them.
The machine invented by Japanese weighs only 350 grams and having 16-inch diameter of ball. The machine was launched vertically and it reached the ground vertically. Once it rises up, it maintains its height and can move with a speed of 60 km/h.
This spherical flying machine invented and proclaimed during previous summer by the Technical Research and Development Institute at Japan’s Ministry of Defense. It was a defense-based project. The world’s first spherical flying machine is likely to be used in search and saving acts in which ordinary aircraft cannot be used.
The JMD spokesperson said:
“Since the body of the machine is round in shape so it can land in all kinds of attitudes and can also move along the ground. It can also keep in contact with a wall while flying. It is round in shape it can easily roll on the ground. But to move it in any desired direction we’ve brought the control surfaces, which are at the rear in an ordinary airplane, to the front.”
The flying machine is very stable. This is due to its gyro sensors. These sensors are very useful because they keeps its direction/orientation and height, even after crashes. Several control surfaces also help with altitude control. The average cost on the making of this prototype flying machine is about US $1, 400. It can still in the air for the time of eight minutes. Researches are in progress to make it efficient and beneficial.
